Real Estate Commission

How much does it cost to sell a home?

Ikonomou Knows Vancouver Homes

When it comes to selling a home, a real estate commission is paid by the seller.

In actuality... the buyer pays the real estate commission.

It's from the sales price that the notary or lawyer takes the commission from and distributes to the seller at the closing (the completion day)

Real estate commissions are 100% negotiable. There is no set or fixed price that an agent will charge a homeowner to sell their home. That being said, agents have their own minimum standard.

Many brokerages charge 7% on the first $100,000 and 2.5% of the balance. They've also charged more and less as well as a flat rate. Generally half of this goes to the buyers brokerage and the rest goes to the listing brokerage.
